This is a great article. Content mapping seems complex as well as simple. But I think having a definite goal, and continuously moving towards it, can bring out great results. Thank you for this information!

Hi,

Great arcticle.

I do produce content maps a lot while performing seo audits. It's one of the best tools to show customers how (or how not) their websites work (or should work).

I always use the free tool "yEd" which you can download here: http://www.yworks.com/en/products_yed_about.html

Regards,
Sebastian

Great article! Post it notes always seem like such a great way to get the ideas out, until you need to document or change anything. And that's where your article comes in, really insightful info!

Thank you for the suggestions! Content is sometimes hard for clients to come up with when they are working on their first website. A content map would be helpful to get the ball rolling and keep them on task!

Great to read a commonsense article on content mapping especially as it does not mention 'silos'.

As much as I like the idea of keeping content GOAL oriented, I am having a hard time mapping your three concepts above against each other. Another Elaboration post coming?

Thank you! I feel like I have been slogging through our content as we are working on a redesign and just simply getting lost. Very helpful approach.

Great! Content Mapping plays a very vital role in improving user experience on a website too. Other than defining the website architecture quite clearly, website goals are also laid down in front of the webmaster. I would consider content mapping as a mutually beneficial process, which is why it’s a must for every website today!
