What Time-Tracking App Do You Use?

There’s always a need to keep track of the time you spend on projects to bill clients accordingly, as well as to establish benchmarks on common tasks.

Marketcircle and Six Revisions would like to know what your favorite time-tracking application is.

To encourage participation, we’ll be giving away five Billings 3 licenses.

To cast your vote for your favorite time-tracking app, simply leave a comment in the following format:

vote: name of time tracking app

This giveaway ends on May 18, 2009 after which the comments section on this post will be closed. We’ll use your email address to contact you if you win. The winners will be randomly selected and announced on a separate post. Please note that comments that don’t follow the instructions on how to participate (described above) may not be published.

Hi,

I have been looking for the perfect time tracking app for a long time . . . with only marginal success.

Having only recently switched to using a Mac I haven’t come across Billings before, however I am going to download the trial now!

My overall favorite time tracking application is BubbleTimer. A web application and an iphone application in one . . . The thing that I like about BubbleTimer is it’s ease of use, very non-intrusive way of tracking time. The only reason why I am considering switching is because I am not a fan of manual invoices!

Details of BubbleTimer here: http://bubbletimer.com/ – the developer is awesome and keeps making the program better and better.

Also, just today I came across an Air application called Klok. Once again just for tracking time but it may be worth a look once it is out of beta.

Details here: http://klok.mcgraphix.com/

Anyway . . . off to download Billings!!!

I am trying out Billings 3 and Daylight. for project management and time tracking.

Billings is quite nice, and straightforward. Daylight seems to be quite deep, I’ve just started testing out this one. But it integrates with billings and allows you to have multiple users.

I currently use an Excel time sheet and manually enter hours and a description of the job/task.

Would love an app to streamline this task. I hear Billings 3 is nice… :)

We use the journal element of OutLook as time trackers. It lets us track a task, record notes, attach a client contact, files and outgoing / incoming e-mails while assigning categories, companies and descriptions. It provides a great amount of detail.

The iPhone app is really what makes this one perfect for me. I have the timer running as I work, then I can just submit a time, and start a new one for the next task/project.

Very interested in testing out Billings 3 though after reading John O’Nolan’s review: http://john.onolan.org/essential-freelance-software-billings/
