These are awesome. I my webdev-fu is much stronger than my designer sensibilities after the last few years of full-time employement, and now that I’ve got some free time I’ve been trying to revive my designer side. None of these are close to what I’m trying to do with my portfolio, but I do have one “naturalist” design on the back burner, and this really helps.

Thank you for all your wonderful responses!
@Elf Sternberg: There’s room for both design and development. You can look at Henry Jones of Web Design Ledger and Jonathan Snook (snook.ca) for inspiration.

There’s something to be said, and you can check me on this with any visual designers you might know, for web design that relates rationally to the company it portrays.
The visuals for Sproutbox.com are “natural” for having a flower incorporated. Okay. But they don’t say anything about the company or its “products”. At first blush, I’d think they were about recipes or hospice or what have you.
