Great article that really draws attention to the difference between hastily made apps and those that are well thought out from a user experience. You can tell even by their well-designed websites that all of these development/design teams spent a great deal of time on making their apps as clearly functional as possible.

My company (newmedio.com) tries to always start app development with strategizing the user interface extensively before even touching a piece of code — I think it helps a lot with the final product even if it takes longer to wireframe out every page. I’ve found that when you skip the wireframe phase, it is much easier to overlook a valuable piece of the app that the client wanted, leaving holes in the quality of the work.

some of this websites create such a visual mood (path, postmates, paper) but some are just superficial presentations (keypoint, momento).
