Besides sharing personal interests with others, I think it’s also exhilarating to create something regularly just for fun. That’s why I started Silly Slogan (sillyslogan.com) to make fun of the ads slogans of the well-known brands. I tried to upload a photo everyday and pun a brand slogan.

Sometimes where just to caught up in a situation wherein we tend to unloved what we are doing. And having this tips are very much helpful specially when all you need is just a rest and a reminder to yourself, how much you love what you are doing.

I completely agree with this article. I think it’s especially important for people that started up their own companies because they loved one thing – product development, design, coding – and their increased responsibility in terms of project management or line management has taken them away from what they love to do.

I totally agree! I’m amazed at how refreshing just taking a short break to create a new desktop background, a poster for a friend’s band, or a goofy graphic for a friend can be.

So, there’s a name for it. The ‘minutia mindset’. I think I’m guilty of living with that mind set even until now. I’ve also embarked on a lot of ‘personal projects’ but because I have a lot of interests, none of them ever gets finished.

I completely agree with this.
Its so easy to get tied up with building a web application at work that your not so interested in and forget why you got into web development/design in the first place.

I work on my own personal project in my spare time, called musicexplained http://www.music-explained.com/. Its a song meanings website where you can share your personal memories, experiences and interpretations of your favourite songs.

The project lets me focus on my other passion aside from web development, music! And i can also play with the last.fm api and twitter.api, things I dont get to do at work. It keeps me happy..he he
