Just found this -- great take on the evolution of websites and the images are awesome. It would be cool to update this post annually with new images as things continue to evolve.

The internet and Darwin's theory are hardly comparable. The internet has always had a series of designers behind it, and while it may be survival of the fittest, still, there are creators and designers pushing it along.

The theory of evolution, on the other hand, is a fairy tale which believes that the universe created itself -- no designer, no dream teams, just self-evolved. Even the internet can't do that...which is proof again that designs prove designers.

Very nice article, it brings back some memories. Ohh, the misery of those Under Construction gifs and the icons "Best viewed in Internet Explorer".

By the way, love the illustrations, amazing!

It's interesting to think that the way we do websites now, even though they are cutting edge technology, will be outdated ten years from now.
